FAQs
How long does a full detail typically last?
A Complete compound, polish, wax can last 3–6 months depending on exposure, water type, and maintenance schedule. Ceramic protection lasts significantly longer with proper upkeep. Boats that live in the sun year-round benefit from weekly scheduled maintenance.
How often should I paint the bottom of my boat?
Most boats require bottom paint every season, depending on water type, usage, and the type of antifouling used. Heavy growth areas or long in-water seasons require annual repainting. Ablative paints may wear faster, while hard paints often last longer. We can help assess your hull for the best interval.
What do you need before performing mobile work at my location?
Water and electricity access help us complete work efficiently. If the location lacks these utilities, let us know — we may still be able to complete the job with our own equipment.
When should I get my boat detailed or waxed?
Fiberglass should be buffed and waxed at least once per season, ideally in the spring before launch. Boats stored outdoors or used frequently may benefit from waxing every 3–6 months to prevent oxidation and UV fade. If the surface looks dull, chalky, or feels rough, it's already losing protection — and that’s the ideal time for a detail or compound correction. Regular detailing protects resale value, keeps gelcoat healthy, and saves money long-term by preventing deep oxidation that requires heavier restoration.
What do you recommend for routine maintenance?
For routine upkeep between detail services, we recommend using a pH-neutral wax based boat soap, a quality marine wax or spray sealant, and a non-abrasive microfiber wash mitt or soft Shurhold brush. A dedicated water-spot remover and UV-protectant for vinyl and plastics will also keep surfaces from fading. Keeping up with light maintenance every few weeks helps extend the life of a detail and keeps oxidation from returning.
Do you offer recurring wash plans or seasonal care?
Yes. We offer scheduled maintenance plans including weekly washdowns, mid-season details, and seasonal bottom painting designed to keep your boat looking fresh all year long. Plans can be customized based on use — weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly — and are available for both personal vessels and fleet accounts. Regular maintenance prevents buildup, preserves shine, and saves money compared to large annual corrections.
